In Loving Memory of Ace

The West (Huffman) family’s four legged companion, Ace, was born on April 4, 2007 and passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. A tree will be planted in Ace’s memory in his backyard on his upcoming birthday where some of his ashes will be spread. Ace was adopted by his mom, Jessi, on May 16th 2007, and he quickly became a huge part of our lives. Ace joined the college scene with his mom where he liked to attend Marshall University tailgates, lounge beside his mom while she did homework, take walks at Ritter Park, and attend the occasional college party. Ace and his mom graduated from Marshall University and moved from an apartment into their home in Hurricane where Ace spent the last 9 years of his life. Ace loved his backyard, tormenting the neighbor dogs, laying in the sun on his deck, and taking walks around his neighborhood. Ace also enjoyed going on weekends away and vacations with his family where he could explore new places and smell new smells. Ace was the sweetest, most caring and compassionate pooch; and made loving relationships with everyone he met. Ace loved to give his mom kisses and perform tricks for treats – he knew how to sit, shake hands (paws), lay down, and high five, although he never mastered “roll over.” We will miss sharing our favorite treats together, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and the occasional piece of bacon. We will miss Ace waiting for us at the front door when we get home and even cleaning up the trash that he occasionally got into, sniffing around for scraps that he shouldn’t have. Ace is especially missed by his human, Jessi, who he followed everywhere as her shadow for almost 13 years and his grandma, Pat, who he loved to visit and stay with when his mom was out of town. Ace truly was our best friend and forever would not have been long enough with him. Ace’s family hopes you’ll give your four legged companion a little extra love in his honor and maybe even an extra treat.

Rest in Peace Ace

In Loving Memory of Benjey

Benjey was a 7 year old Golden Doodle. He was born May 15,2012 and crossed the rainbow bridge December 23,2019.
Benjey loved his life he was our Marley. We wrote our own story and it was a beautiful ride over our 7 years together we made many memories.
The first memory of Benjey was the day that we first met, Benjey was purchased from Mocha Pets in New Boston. It was love at first sight Benjey was daddy’s boy and he did no wrong from the moment we first met he never left my side. Benjey joined the Shifko family in July 2012 on the way home that night Benjey played with every member of his family he greeted everyone with puppy kisses and nibbles the entire ride he was daddy’s boy but he created a special place in the hearts of his nana and pappap. He let his aunt and uncle know very quickly that they would never forget him either.
Over the next 7 years Benjey was right beside his dad for many big days moving away from home and coming down to Chesapeake to open up our agency in 2013. Then in 2016 Benjey played a big role in his mom and dad starting their life’s together. Haley had to babysit him when Dad was out of town and she would take him on walks and feed him and play with him but eventually Haley became mommy. Benjey was spoiled and loved every minute of being both mommy and daddy’s boy. October 2018 Benjey met his little brother Remi and the rest of his life Benjey never left Remi’s side he knew this was his little brother and he was going to take care of Remi.
We are so grateful for the memories we made with Benjey we will never forget him.Benjey had this unique gift he made sure if you met him you couldn’t forget him he loved life. He was one of a kind. We will miss him every single day it was so hard to say goodbye to our boy but we know that he left us ghost everywhere and we will never forget him.We wrote a beautiful story together.
We love you Benjey!

Libby’s life with the Drasturas began on October 27, 2005, after a stint in the local shelter. She soon became her mom’s protector and companion. After Libby’s dad retired, she enrolled in classes with Bill Shaffer in Charleston, W.Va., along with her friend Mouse. Libby and Mouse would both go on to graduate from Brown Veterinary Services Obedience School and Sterling Canine Academy. Both girls would earn their CGC, BN, RN and RA titles before retiring to the couch.

Libby has joined Mouse over the Rainbow Bridge after a long struggle with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction. Also waiting for her is her shelter mate, Snookey, who was rescued on the same day by her mom’s friend, Tina Williams.

In Loving Memory of Tabby “Mutty Poo” Bowles

Tabby was a 17 years 2 month 8 days Shih-Tzu. 11/7/2002~1/15/2020

Favorite thing to do: We would put her on the bed at night and she would turn the covers down, sometimes getting under them and waiting for us. Also she loved to go bye bye to the bank drive thru to get a bone with her head hanging out the window all the way there and barking at cars at stop lights.

Favorite memory: If she was in the back yard and hear me coming in the truck, she would always meet me at the gate on her back legs, and leading me to the house. I could get on the floor loving on her and getting her barking, then our other 2 Shih-Tzu’s would join in for a trio of singing. Watching her run so gracefully jumping like a deer just full of herself . Mommy would always let Tabby kiss her in the mouth, but Daddy could only take a kiss on the cheek. But if she was here today Daddy sure would!!!

You was the Best Puppa in the world. We love you Tabby Girl and will always be in our hearts .

Rest in Peace Tabby
