I was promised a kitten by a friend of a friend and told my momma, fully expecting to be told absolutely not. To my surprise mom drove me to a strangers home and we picked up this tiny kitten with a cream paw in the summer of 2009. She came home and was named many things but eventually became Zoe. Zoe would jump and could hit the ceiling fan cords, jump on top of door frames, and was a very tree top kind of cat, until she got very overweight and could definitely not reach the same heights. Because of her coat colors and roundness, she reminded me of pigs from Pig Beach, and thus became known as Pig. Pig went on a diet and became a sleek house panther again, but the name stuck. She never responded to kitty kitty, so as a joke a friend called out “sooey sooey,” as one would call farm pigs and Pig came running.
We grew up together, and she was there for nearly every major life event with me including my wedding, which added one of her most favorite people to her life, Jacob. Her favorite toy was a handmade yarn ball with a string tied on it, which she always had beside his chair to play when he got home from work. Besides Jacob and her string toy, cheese was her greatest passion, especially Kraft macaroni, which she always got a few pieces of to lick to cheese sauce off of.
Pig lived a long, cheese and play filled life, loved so dearly by many for her quirks and silliness.
